The Dirty Truth about the Food we’re Eating

1 Corinthians 6:19, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God.  You are not your own.”

Our last two KGM Luncheons have been EPIC!  (Actually, I think every Luncheon is pretty awesome.)    Mind-blowing information has been shared.  Especially at this last Luncheon as it relates to Nutrition.

To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed.  I’m a simple girl who loves anything fried.  Has an addiction to Chick-fil-A and has to force down vegetables.

REGARDLESS, I’m making adjustments after hearing our speaker and all she had to share about the importance of healthy living. The food we eat affects us mentally, physically and spiritually.   Sadly however, our food chain has been contaminated with pesticides.  It’s vital to the well-being of our bodies that we know the truth and make good food choices.

In this short post, I can’t possible share all I learned.  However, I  want to share a few of my take-aways.  For those of you at the Luncheon, I’d love to hear what stood out most to you.

My Favorite Line, “You’ll never know how bad you’ve been feeling until you start to feel good.”  (Because of a changed diet.)

In a nutshell:

  • Drink good water.   Take your body weight and divide it by 2.  That’s how many ounces of water you need each day.
  • Be intentional about eating good fruits and vegetables.  (See dirty dozen list below)
  • Eat more nuts
  • Less fast-food:(
  • Take baby steps.  See how good you feel then go to the next step.

My Immediate adjustments after hearing Nikki:

  1. I’m going to drink more water – good water.  Tap water is not “good water.”   Water with electrolytes is good.
  2. I’m doing a cleanse each morning.  (Before having my first cup of coffee.)  Today, I drank, an almost 8oz glass of water, with a 1/2 a lemon squeezed into it:)  This simple adjustment helps rid my body of toxins and jumpstarts my organs.  It even helps regulate my body temperature.   To be honest:  it tasted horrible!  It was bitter.   But if it’s good for my body – “giddy up!”  I’m gonna do it.
  3. Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet.  (Organic if possible).   Jesus help!
  4. Learn more about Alkaline/Acid Diets.  Cancer and kidney stones grow in a predominately acid diet.

Moment that caused sadness:  “Cut out ALL soft drinks, fast food and soy.”   Boo! I just LOVE soy sauce.  I recently bought a 1/2 gallon of it at Costco:(

She didn’t mention fried food…  Needless to say, it’s gotta be a no-no:(  (At least in extreme moderation.)

Moment that made me sit up straight and gulp:  “The food chain is not good.  It’s been contaminated with Round Up and other pesticides in and on our food.  Why do we believe that Satan isn’t working within our foods?  He’s the father of lies.  He deceives and is out to kill, steal and destroy our health.  The truth needs to be unveiled.”

The Dirty Dozen – Whenever buying these foods, get organic if possible.

  1. Peaches
  2. Apples
  3. Sweet Bell Peppers
  4. Celery
  5. Nectarines
  6. Strawberries
  7. Cherries
  8. Pears
  9. Grapes
  10. Spinach
  11. Lettuce
  12. Potatoes

She said so much more that I simply could not absorb because I’d get stuck pondering the jaw-dropping comment she’d said before the next jaw-dropping comment.

We’re having her back.  Stay tuned…

In the meantime, I’m not the only one drinking lemon water in the morning.  Our very own hugger-in-chief is too:)  Check out her video post here!
