God will Never Forsake You

THANK YOU TO OUR 2017 SPONSORS!

Because of YOU, more and more women are living the Bible.  Women are connecting the dots that God is not “just a building to sit in on Sunday,” but that He’s real and that His Word is relevant in marriage, parenting, home life, and professionally.

Our annual Golf Tournament is an event we eagerly anticipate.  It’s one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. We begin months in advance to make sure everything is ready for the big day.  This year, however, due to rain last Monday, June 5th, I had no other choice than to cancel.

Saying ‘cancelling was hard’ is an understatement.  I kept thinking the rain would clear…  That God was going to intervene.  After all, the KGM Team and I had been specifically and boldly praying about the weather for months.   I had even fasted, the few weeks prior to the tournament, praying and believing we were going to have the best year yet.

But God chose to answer in a different way.

The morning following the cancelled tournament,  the weather was picture perfect.   With the sun beaming through the window, I was a tad bit peeved as I read my Bible.  Transparently speaking, I had felt like God had forsaken me the day before.

‘Why did it have to rain yesterday and be sunny today?   You’re a BIG God.  Don’t you care about the revenue we missed in funding / growing Your ministry?’

Ever so quietly, He seemed to illuminate the words of Deuteronomy 31.  Twice, Moses told Joshua that God “would never leave him nor forsake him.” Deuteronomy 31:5-8

It occurred to me:  for Moses to say this twice in the same breath, he must have experienced moments in his leadership when it felt like God had forsaken him.    Otherwise, why would Moses be warning Joshua of a feeling that would seem like a reality?

And yes, that morning, I felt forsaken.

I realize this must sound really silly and mundane to some of you.  “Rain on the day of fundraiser… Really, Tara?  It’s not a life or death situation.”

So true!

But in our corner of the world, it’s the biggest fundraiser of the year.  And the rain took a bite out of the revenue that supports this ministry.

In that moment, with these mentioned thoughts, it dawned on me that the cancellation was not God forsaking us, but blessing us!   A blessing I would have never asked for.  The blessing is an opportunity to trust God more intently.   It’s an opportunity for KGM to experience God in a new, fresh way.  Which at the end of the day, will make me a stronger leader and the organization stronger as a whole. I’m excited for what is ahead for KGM, how this ministry can reach other women, how God will perfectly provide and how this ministry glorifies and builds His Kingdom.

As you read this today, if you’re in a situation where you feel like God has forsaken you, I encourage you to sit in His presence.  Feelings are so fickle.  Yet God will give you a fresh perspective that will be salve to your hurt or confused heart.

As He reminded me this week, I share with you,  “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

God will not forsake you, sweet friend.  He, Himself, will go before you in times of uncertainty, confusion and disappointment.  We never have to be afraid of what the future might hold, because we know that He holds the future.
