Love and Marriage

Speaker: Gwen Brodd

“The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:11-12

This luncheon invites women from every stage of life—married, single, divorced, and widowed—to explore a meaningful, biblical vision of intimacy and connection within marriage. While physical closeness is often emphasized, Scripture points to a much broader understanding of what it means to love with wisdom, integrity, and purpose.

Together, we will look at the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical dimensions of intimacy, gaining insight into God’s design for relationships and how these principles can shape our character, our choices, and our influence—whether we are currently married or not.

Attendees will leave encouraged, equipped, and inspired, with practical tools and biblical truth that speak to every woman’s journey. This session offers a welcoming space to learn, reflect, and grow as we consider what it means to “do good” in the relationships God has entrusted to us.

Meet the Speaker:

Gwen has spent many years involved in women’s ministry, including teaching Bible studies, mentoring young mothers and wives, and speaking at various events.

A Raleigh native, Gwen and her college sweetheart will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary later this year. Their family includes four sons, four daughters-in-law, and ten grandchildren.

She currently enjoys reading crime and special-operations fiction, completing jigsaw puzzles, and expanding a large LEGO village that occupies the top of their pool table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Anything but denim. This is a private club and we want to be good stewards by adhering to their dress code.

What if the price of the event exceeds my budget?

Contact us for information regarding financial scholarships.

Will I feel awkward walking in if I’m coming by myself?

Absolutely NOT! We learned from the Focus Group that we needed to be more intentional with people who are attending for the first time. Taking their advice, we have made adjustments so that women coming alone – for the first time – will feel expected and welcomed!

Why is it hosted at a Country Club and not a church?
One of our goals is to reach ALL women – regardless of denomination. We are concerned that if we have it in a denominational location – it will become a denominational event.
The focus group told us they LIKED coming to this location each month. They did not feel like it was a threatening environment, but enjoyed treating themselves.
