Capturing the Heart of the Holidays

We love the holidays.

The sights, the smells, the tastes — from cinnamon and evergreen to warm pies and
glowing Christmas lights. We love reconnecting with friends and family, watching
children’s Christmas programs, and soaking in the beauty of the season. Honestly, we
love it so much that when it’s time to pack away the decorations, our hearts feel a little
heavy.

Every year we tell ourselves we’ll slow down, savor the moments, and make the season
more meaningful for our families. Sometimes we even make lists of what to do
differently — only to lose them by January! With each passing year, we realize how
easily the memories fade. The meals, the gifts, the laughter, the early Christmas
morning wakeups… we don’t want to forget any of it.

Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of
wisdom.”
That’s part of why we created the devotional journal, Treasures of the Season — to help
you intentionally capture the moments that matter. You don’t have to fill every section.
Just record the things you never want to forget.

And maybe for you, the holidays are hard. Perhaps they carry loss, stress, or unmet
expectations. If so, we gently encourage you to try a new tradition or two. Shift your
focus from what the world promises to the true meaning of the season — the birth of
Jesus Christ. When we fix our eyes on Him, the atmosphere of our homes changes.
Ours did. And we believe God can meet you in your circumstances too. When He steps
into our holidays, miracles can happen.

If decorating feels overwhelming, you’ll also find simple tips inside the journal to help
make it enjoyable — not stressful — so your heart can stay centered on Jesus, the
Giver of every good gift.

Merry Christmas, and blessings for a joy-filled New Year!
Love,
Tara and Lisa
