Are You Praying for Your Family?

by | Oct 28, 2021 | Parenting, Prayer

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household. Acts 16:31

Prayer for family is one of our greatest privileges and responsibilities and represents one of the most powerful, God-given means we have to effect change. The Bible reminds us time and again that God’s plan is for families to be saved.

  • Noah’s family found safety from the flood on the ark. Genesis 7:1
  • The lives of Hebrew families were spared by the blood of the Passover lamb spread over their homes’ doors. Exodus 12:1-12
  • Rahab’s family was saved by the scarlet cord in her window. Joshua 6:22-25
  • The nobleman’s son, whom Jesus healed, in turn had his whole household saved. John 4:53
  • Peter shared the Good News with Cornelius’ relatives and close friends. All came to saving faith. Acts 10:24-48
  • Paul and Silas told their jailers that if they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, they and their household would be saved. Acts 16:31-34

These examples clearly illustrate that God desires “household salvation.” While it is still and individual choice, we can be confident that we’re praying the will of God for our family members to come to salvation and for their spiritual growth.

So keep praying. Never give up on that prodigal or lost family member.

If you — as wife, mother, grandmother, or aunt — are not praying for your family members, who is?
