Do You Want a Vibrant Relationship with Your Adult Children?

by | Aug 30, 2025 | Parenting

“Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.” – Psalm 141:3

Parenting doesn’t end when our children grow up—it simply changes. While shelves are full of books on how to raise kids, there is far less guidance on how to navigate relationships once they become adults. Yet this season is just as important.

As our children step into independence, our role shifts.

  • We move from directing to supporting, from instructing to listening.
  • Sometimes that means biting our tongue and entrusting God with the things we’d love to fix.
  • It means cheering them on, offering wisdom only when asked.
  • Transforming our worries into prayers.

After all, most of the time they already know what we think—and experience is often the best teacher.

The goal? A healthy, vibrant friendship with our adult children, one marked by respect, encouragement, and trust. And if they are married, that extends to building bridges of love with their spouses too.

That’s why at our September Luncheon we’ll be exploring how to loosen our grip to tighten our relationship. Together, we’ll discuss how to move from parenting to friendship, how to create space for our children to grow, and how to enjoy this next season of family life with joy.

We’d love for you to join us—not just to hear, but to share. Bring your questions, your stories, and the strategies that have worked for you.

Let’s learn together how to strengthen these precious bonds for a lifetime.
