7 Ways God Shows His Love For You

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.” – Ephesians 3:18 NLT

This weekend, many will celebrate and honor their fathers with get-togethers and gifts.

For others, Father’s Day will be difficult because their fathers are no longer alive, were absent during
childhood, or significantly contributed to a bad home life.

As such, it’s easy to understand why many have trouble seeing God as a loving Father because of these
deep wounds inflicted upon them by their earthly fathers.

No matter what your earthly father was like, God, the Father, is different.

In honor of Father’s Day, allow me to briefly introduce you to your perfect heavenly Father.

1. God loves you deeply and intimately. You were made in His image with the capacity to know
Him. He knows the number of hairs on your head. He counts your tears. Jesus came to reveal
what the Father was like through His own life. He came to show that anyone can have an
intimate relationship with God. You can be authentic and vulnerable with Him. You can bring to
Him every place of pain.

2. God longs to touch the deepest parts of your heart, the secret places that no one sees. He longs
to touch your wounds, your scars, your rejections, and your brokenness. What He touches
becomes healed, whole, and blessed. Open your heart to Him today.

3. God welcomes you with open arms. In Luke 15, we see the account of the prodigal son. The
younger son demanded his share of the estate and then set off for a distant country where he
spent his inheritance on wild living.

Upon losing everything, he finally comes to his senses and decides to return to his father.
Instead of shunning him, the father welcomes him with open arms!

When you or I accept Jesus and place our faith in Him alone, God accepts and welcomes us into
relationship. Nothing can separate us from His love. Not our past. Not our sins. Not our guilt.
Nothing.

4. God never says, “I told you so.” The father of the prodigal never gives one word of criticism
either. Never does he say, “I told you so.” There was no condemnation.

Similarly, when we come to God through Jesus, He never condemns us. He’ll never say, “I told
you so.” He’ll never remind you of the wrong things you’ve done. He accepts you with open
arms.

5. God hears when you pray. “Because He turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.”
Psalm 116:2 There are countless Scriptures just like this in the Psalms. Read a Psalm a day. It will
reassure you that He hears your prayers.

6. God gives good gifts. “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
Matthew 7:11

7. God desires to remain close to you. If you feel far from God, is there something in your life that
is separating you from Him? His will is to never leave you or forsake you. He never wants you to
feel like He is far away.

God longs to be in relationship with you. He says, “Come to Me.”

But we must make the effort.
