Socialism: What Scripture Has to Say and Why Believers Should Care

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

Our country’s direction is of great concern to me as I expect it may be to you as well. There is no shortage of controversy among our current events, and in turn, these happenings often create unpopular subjects of discussion from the pulpit.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve hungered to hear from one of my trusted brothers or sisters in Christ to help me sift through the politics and view some of these issues through a Biblical lens. One such issue that God has burdened me with is our country’s move toward more socialistic platforms. During my study time with the Lord, my heart has been torn as to what one person can do.

God answered my prayers for trusted counsel on this particular subject when a notification appeared on my phone from the Turning Point app — Dr. David Jeremiah’s popular podcast. For those unfamiliar, Dr. Jeremiah is a long-time and well-respected warrior of the faith whose global ministry has consistently “delivered the unchanging Word of God to an ever-changing world.”

In this 25-minute video, Dr. Jeremiah lays out very clearly the evils and fallacies of socialism by sharing the facts and motivations behind this ideology – an ideology that he believes will be in place when the anti-Christ takes over. Most importantly, his commentary surrounding today’s events is viewed through the lens of Scripture and he shows us what this dangerous shift means for our everyday lives.

In other words, why we should care.

Dr. Jeremiah closes with a charge to all Believers. It’s very powerful and worth making the time to listen.
