Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
By: Ellen Stevens
Anxiety can feel overwhelming, stirring fear and unrest deep within us. But God invites us to cast our cares on Him because He truly cares.
Jesus isn’t distant or indifferent—He is attentive and compassionate toward every burden we carry. When we hand over our fears to Him, we make room for His peace to fill our hearts.
How to Find Peace:
I’ve found that when anxiety begins to rise within me, these steps help me release fear and regain a sense of peace:
- Humble yourself before God. This means saying, “Lord, I trust You and Your provision for every need.”
- Cast your cares on Him. Let go of fear, worry, and every heavy burden. Sometimes you may need to remind yourself multiple times to place those cares on His strong shoulders—and resist picking them back up.
- Allow Him to take control. Trust that He will use every situation for your good and His glory.
- Obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Listen and respond to His guidance.
- Choose to trust. Tell your heart to be at peace, knowing He personally cares about what concerns you.
- Speak God’s Word out loud. Proclaiming truths from Scripture strengthens our faith and brings peace.
We serve a mighty God—our Deliverer, Burden Bearer, and Promise Keeper! When we follow these simple steps, Jesus removes anxiety from our hearts and fills us with His peace.
Meditate on these powerful promises from God’s Word. If one especially resonates, write it down in a journal or on an index card and memorize it. When fear creeps in, take your thoughts captive with God’s powerful truths:
- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. —John 14:27
- “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me.” —John 14:1
- Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. —Matthew 11:28
- Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. —Psalm 55:22
