Could God be Trying to get Our Attention?

I shared in an earlier blog that as I’ve prayed for our leaders and the President’s Task Force during COVID-19, God has quickened my heart.

I believe He may be trying to get our attention. Us, the people who call themselves ‘Christian’, to wake up and repent…

It would seem we are living in a Romans 1 generation.  This passage is ever so relevant to our world today. But the good news is that when Christians humble themselves and turn from what God calls wicked, that He not only hears but will also heal our land.

Let’s pray…

Lord, Your Word says that ‘If My people, who are called by My Name, [that’s me] will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, that You will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’ (2 Chronicles 7:14)  So, Father, I confess I’m guilty. Forgive me. Forgive us all when:

  • We don’t bother trying to know You. We rely on what we’ve always been taught by others or the traditions in which we’ve been raised.
  • We rarely open our Bibles. Even when we do, we question it as absolute Truth.
  • We exchange the truth of Who You are for who we want You to be.
  • We believe other gods are equal to You.
  • We are so secularized, materialistic, and nonspiritual that we don’t acknowledge Your existence, much less revere or obey You.
  • We put first our own physical appetites, material desires, and whatever else our eyes long for.
  • We exchange natural relations for unnatural relations and defiantly applaud relationships that contradict Your Word.
  • We greatly honor what You call vile.
  • We reject Your definition of marriage.
  • We reject You as the Creator and publically accept evolution as the origin of human history.
  • We reject what You call male and female, acquiescing to the world’s ways.
  • We fail to give You thanks and often call it luck or karma.
  • We claim to be wise, but we are fools.
  • We misuse Your Name.
  • We ignore the Sabbath treating it as any other day.
  • We honor our mother and father when it’s convenient.
  • We place very little to no value on life and call it a woman’s choice.
  • We disobey and reject the governing authorities You have instituted if they do not share our politics or ideology.
  • We are filled with greed and a desire to be known and popular.
  • We lust for power, sex, and more money.
  • We are gossips, full of envy. We covet others.
  • We often refuse to forgive people who have hurt us – even those closest to us.
  • We applaud bad behavior.
  • We bow to political correctness often shrinking back from acknowledging our relationship with You, Jesus.
  • We have a greater desire to fit in with the world around us than to please You.
  • We fail to keep our oaths if we’re not happy or content.
  • We’re far more obsessed with social media, fame, or our sports teams than we are with You.

God forgive us… Have mercy on us. Thank you that Your Word says, “Though we were overwhelmed by our sins, You forgive them all.” Psalm 65:3

You also promise, “You do not treat us as our sins deserve… As far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:10, 12)  Thank You for forgiveness, Jesus.

More tomorrow…
