New Year, New You!

by | Jan 5, 2020 | Spiritual Growth

1 Timothy 4:7-8,
“… train yourselves to be godly.  For physical training is of
some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

The start of a new year offers new motivation to begin new habits and drop bad ones.  Many are making resolutions to exercise more. Eat less.  Healthy living is important for a multitude of reasons.

I personally love making exercise a part of my daily routine. It not only makes me feel good and strong, but it also gives me a greater sense of confidence and a clearer mind.  Not to mention, it helps maintain my jean size!

However, if we only focus on exercise and nutrition, we’re missing what’s most important and deprive ourselves of what really matters: our spiritual health.

Life’s wounds have a way of making us weak, giving us a spiritual limp.  Wounds such as rejection, abandonment, abuse, divorce, brokenness, regret, or depression leave scars.  Childhood can leave pain points that never completely heal unless we’re intentional in allowing God to heal our hearts and make us whole.

While we may do our best to camouflage the brokenness or pain, the scar tissue remains, leaving our hearts completely malnourished.  We can look all together on the outside, but be a total mess on the inside.

God wants more than anything for us to be strong and healthy in the core of our beings.  He wants us to not just have healthy bodies, but healthy thoughts, motives, and behavior.  He wants us to be the best version of ourselves – people who are whole, happy, strong, and confident.  Strong and nourished from the inside out.

When we incorporate prayer and Bible reading into our everyday routines, our lives will be full of energy and vitality.  Spending time with Jesus, through His Word, will strengthen the deepest areas of our core.  He satisfies the hunger of our souls.  He alone feeds our soul with the richest, cleanest, and most healthy of foods!

Sometimes the Best Place to Grow Is…the Bathroom?

I recently received a text from a friend that made me laugh out loud. She had printed one of our "My True Identity" cards and wrote: "I put this in the kids' bathroom so they would see it often. An unexpected use I'm sure, but I'm excited for them to continue learning...

Runway Lights: Learning to Hear God’s Voice Part 2 of 2
