The Importance of Cultivating Time with Jesus

By: Ellen Stevens

One thing I have always loved about serving with Knowing God Ministries (KGM) is that the ministry encourages women to cultivate quiet times with Jesus.

In a distracted world replete with evil, we must be diligent in spending time with God. Doing so allows Him to shepherd us through His Word and our prayers.

Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:10-11

Jesus has the words of eternal life. John 6:68
He laid down His life for us. John 10:15
“By believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31
The Spirit gives life! 2 Cor. 3:6
”In Him was life.” John 1:4

KGM Founder and President Tara Furman always challenges us to ask ourselves: “Are you spending time with God…?” “Sit with Him. Get to know your Savior. Ask Him. He will help you!”

Whether speaking at conferences or luncheons (and lately through Zoom), Tara consistently urges women to spend time with Jesus. Because as John 14:6 testifies, Jesus is “the way and the truth and the life.”

Only Jesus provides the REST our souls need. The world deceives us into believing the opposite.

Only Jesus offers the peace and joy that comes from resting in God’s presence in a secular-minded world. He promises to deliver, teach, and train us in His ways.

Together, we are all learning to receive from Him. Rest in Him, walking with Him in authority and purpose. Aren’t you grateful that God strengthens us? And not only that, but He also calls us to make a difference this side of heaven!

Keep praying and seeking Him with all of your heart!
